Waipukurau is a town of some 4000 residents with motels, cafes and shopping with the main street about ten minutes walk from the runway. A motel borders the airfield at the northern end if you are looking for accommodation.
The fleet comprises a Cessna 152 Aerobat, a Cessna 172, a DH82 Tiger Moth and a S-6S Coyote II.
The Tiger Moth attracts considerable interest, as we are one of the few training organisations in New Zealand to be able to carry out Tiger Moth type ratings.
The runway extends in a north-easterly (02), south-westerly (20) direction and is 430 feet ASL and 1000 metres in length, with the circuit on the western side. Fuel facilities are available near the clubhouse – BP avgas and JetA1 fuel. Sheep sometimes graze the runway and will normally congregate to the southern end with approaching aircraft. They can be removed on request by contacting the club in advance. There are no landing charges.
